Taiwan and Mongolia requested information about the incident

On October 5, Taiwan’s health authority sent a request to Russia’s International Health Regulations focal point. The following day, the authority also requested information from the World Health Organization, the United Nations health agency.

Mongolia’s National Center for Zoonotic Diseases reported its own request and relayed Russia’s response. It said the suspicion had not been confirmed and no accident had been identified at the institute.

The Mongolian statement relays Russian information, rather than the results of an independent examination of the patient. This investigation contains no confirmation of any new border-crossing closures related to this episode.
