According to colleagues’ accounts, September 25 was Darya Shipilova’s last day at work before hospitalization. This investigation has no precise attendance log or personnel record.

Journalist Pavel Stepanov and the Russian Telegram channel Mash linked that day to an alleged broken test tube containing the plague pathogen. People of Baikal repeated this account, but no incident report, laboratory log or verified testimony from a direct eyewitness has been published.

On October 4, Rospotrebnadzor, Russia’s Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing, stated that two commissions had found no accidents at the institute. The commissions’ reports have not been obtained either. The last working day and the alleged infection therefore cannot be treated as a single established event.
