Darya Shipilova worked in laboratory diagnostics at the anti-plague institute
Darya Shipilova worked at the Irkutsk Anti-Plague Institute. People of Baikal, a regional publication covering Siberia, described her as a laboratory technician and reported that she completed a residency in Clinical Laboratory Diagnostics at Irkutsk Medical University in 2024.

Women interviewed by Siberia.Realities said she had worked at the institute since 2022. The reports name a former colleague, Miroslava, and a fellow student, Valentina; their surnames were not published. Their accounts provide information about Shipilova’s work and studies but cannot replace personnel records.
The regional publication gave her age as 28, while the Spanish newspaper El País reported 27. This investigation has no document establishing her date of birth. Her diploma, employment contract, precise department and job description have also not been obtained.
Shipilova’s death subsequently prompted contact screening and restrictions at medical facilities. The circumstances of her death and the explanation from Rospotrebnadzor, Russia’s Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing, are covered in separate entries.
