Buryatia’s leader said Shipilova had not visited the republic

On October 2, Republic of Buryatia head Alexey Tsydenov said the deceased employee had not visited the region. IRK.ru published his remarks at 21:34 in the website’s time.

The early quotation included the words “from plague.” This was wording in a public statement, not laboratory confirmation of the cause of death. Meduza later reported that the post was edited to add a qualification.

The complete original official post, the exact moment it changed and two independently dated archived copies have not been obtained. Shipilova’s documented travel history has not been established either. Onishchenko’s earlier remarks described a different travel account.
