Mongolian deputy prime minister corrects Hulunbuir claim: it was a warning

On 14 October, Mongolian Deputy Prime Minister Nyamtaishiryn Nomtoibayar corrected his statement about suspicious symptoms in Hulunbuir, Inner Mongolia. In iKon journalist N. Erkhbayar’s updated report, he clarified that no cases had been officially registered: a warning had been issued. His earlier statement that day had described symptoms resembling the Irkutsk case.

According to the clarification carried by iKon, Mongolia is exchanging information with Russia and China. An interagency team left that morning to inspect controls at border crossing points. This reports a preparedness inspection; the article supplies no findings from it.

On 13 October, Shangguan News journalists contacted Hulunbuir’s health commission. In their report carried by The Paper, an unnamed employee denied a local outbreak and described the warning as routine public education, removed to prevent misunderstanding. This is a response conveyed by journalists, not a published laboratory record.

The initial claim about symptoms therefore needs to be read with its subsequent correction. These reports do not establish plague in Hulunbuir or transmission from Irkutsk.

iKon labels the original entry 14 October, 18:13, and the correction 19:30; the displayed times do not specify a time zone. The Paper: 13 October, 22:00, without an explicit zone. Added to the research on 14 October.
