Philippines reported traveler and cargo screening amid the Irkutsk reports

The DOH (Department of Health, Philippines) said it was monitoring the Irkutsk situation and WHO (World Health Organization, the United Nations health agency) recommendations. The Philippine Star dates the agency statement to Tuesday, 6 October.

The Bureau of Quarantine was screening incoming travelers and monitoring rodents and rat fleas on incoming cargo and vessels. The department said it would announce any additional measures that became necessary.

On 7 October, the presidential administration also said health authorities were monitoring developments. The source is Christine Boton’s article with a contribution by Alexis Romero; a separate full original agency statement was not obtained. These measures do not confirm Darya Shipilova’s diagnosis.

The article was published at 00:00 on 8 October with a +08:00 offset in its metadata: the same time in Irkutsk, or 19:00 on 7 October in Moscow. Exact statement times were not established. The source was added to the research on 8 October.
