South Korea assesses the risk of importation as low
South Korea assessed the risk of possible infection arriving from Russia as low. In MoneyToday’s 7 October parliamentary report, Lim Seung-kwan (임승관), commissioner of KDCA (Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency, South Korea’s disease-control authority), described an urgent assessment conducted around midday. He spoke at a parliamentary audit of agencies in Seoul.

Asked by lawmaker Lee Man-hee about checking people and cargo from the affected region, Lim said reliable information remained insufficient. Monitoring and reassessment continued. He linked stronger quarantine screening to a rise in risk; NewsTomato carried the same response. The reports describe stronger controls as a possible next step.
His official biography confirms his office. September’s fourth-quarter screening announcement predates the incident. This check did not obtain the complete official parliamentary transcript. The reports do not establish Darya Shipilova’s diagnosis.
