European services noted limited information; Taiwan strengthened border measures
On October 6, ECDC, the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control, an agency of the European Union, reported limited information about pneumonia of unknown origin and no reports of secondary cases or sustained transmission.
Lithuanian public-health institutions were monitoring the situation. Lithuania’s National Public Health Centre (NVSC, its Lithuanian abbreviation) saw no evidence of increased risk to Lithuanian residents or a need for additional population measures.
Taiwan’s authority reported a request to the World Health Organization, the United Nations health agency, and stronger temperature checks and sanitary measures at airports and ports. Its request to the Russian side had been sent the previous day.
These are distinct national and supranational decisions. None independently confirms the Russian patient’s diagnosis.
