Contacts were placed under observation; initial results were described as negative
On October 2, Irkutsk Region Governor Igor Kobzev announced an extraordinary commission meeting attended by Anna Popova, head of Rospotrebnadzor, Russia’s Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing, and the country’s chief state sanitary physician.
He said it was prompted by suspicion that a regional resident had a particularly dangerous infection. No specific disease was named in that wording. According to the governor, the commission approved an operational plan, contacts were under observation and test results were negative.

On October 4, the agency reported two coronavirus infections and two rhinovirus infections among contacts. Without sample dates and a list of tests, it is impossible to determine whether the early and later statements refer to the same tests.
