Mongolia orders tighter border checks and disinfection
Nyam-Osor Uchral, Mongolia’s prime minister, held an urgent meeting on 6 October concerning possible infectious disease in Irkutsk Oblast and contagious caprine pleuropneumonia in Mongolia, called godron in Mongolian. The government account lists instructions covering both subjects.

Instruction 8 calls for tighter checks on people and vehicles crossing the state border and comprehensive disinfection under established procedures. Governors of border aimags — Mongolia’s administrative provinces — and J.Byambasuren, head of the General Authority for Border Protection, were also told to arrange wildlife surveillance in border areas and supply veterinary services with reliable information.
Nyamtaishir Nomtoibayar, deputy prime minister and chair of Mongolia’s State Emergency Commission, reported that over 200 people had been isolated in Irkutsk Oblast and that Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan were strengthening border quarantine and laboratory controls. The government relays his statement; it is not an independent check of patient numbers or diagnosis. He said the commission had prepared a plan and was acting promptly.
Instruction 10 asks the deputy prime minister to arrange information exchange between the central customs and veterinary laboratories and the national food-safety reference laboratory. The release does not specify how every general instruction relates to the two infectious-disease subjects. Vaccine funding and compensation for owners of culled goats explicitly concern the goat disease called godron.
Separate implementation records and a border-closure decision were not obtained in the reviewed materials. A.Tögöldör at iKon, MNB (Mongolian National Broadcaster), crediting the government information service, and VIP76 reproduced the account. These publications share a government source.
