Georgia: no additional sanitary measures required at this stage

Georgian authorities saw no need for additional measures in response to reports of possible plague in Russia. FrontNews published minister Mikheil Sarjveladze’s position on 7 October. His full office is minister of internally displaced persons from the occupied territories, labour, health and social affairs of Georgia, confirmed by an official government portal.

The minister said his ministry and the disease-control centre were monitoring developments, primarily using WHO (World Health Organization, a United Nations specialized agency) information. He considered the affected region’s distance and travel intensity when assessing measures. At that stage, he saw no grounds for panic or recommendations requiring additional action.

Sarjveladze said authorities were ready to act immediately if needed to protect the population. Another Georgian agency carried the same statement. These publications document his position; they do not establish Darya Shipilova’s diagnosis. A signed ministry document and complete recording have not been obtained. His official biography is on the Georgian parliament website.

FrontNews: 7 October, 09:32:57 UTC (Coordinated Universal Time), updated 11:51:14 UTC; Irkutsk 17:32:57 and 19:51:14. Exact speaking time and venue unestablished. This late-found statement was added to research on 8 October.
