Russia’s response did not resolve questions about the cause of death or contacts’ health

Russia’s response, received on October 6, did not conclude verification by the World Health Organization (WHO), the United Nations health agency. AP (Associated Press), the United States news cooperative, reported the organization’s additional questions on October 7, while their primary account appears in the director-general’s statement.

Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus described requests for test results, the grounds for sanitary measures and contact information. The organization lacked the full picture needed for risk assessment.

The report of a second employee with pneumonia also required verification. It was not announced as a second confirmed plague case.

The agency article was published at 22:04:36 in Irkutsk time. It is a new account of the position, rather than a separate independent medical examination. The request is described in detail in the linked article.
