French and Ukrainian specialists continued monitoring; risk to Ukraine was described as very low
On October 7, COREB (Coordination opérationnelle — Risque épidémique et biologique), France’s national operational coordination mission for epidemic and biological risks, issued an information sheet on suspected plague in Siberia, linking to European and international health sources.
This was a professional coordination response, rather than a statement by France’s president, government or foreign ministry.
A Ukrainian disease-control center also reported monitoring the situation and assessing the risk to Ukraine as very low. This institutional position differs from categorical headlines in some publications.
Neither the French information sheet nor the Ukrainian assessment establishes the Russian patient’s diagnosis.
