Peskov did not confirm receipt of the United States communication
On October 7, Russian presidential spokesperson Dmitry Peskov told reporters that he had no information about a United States diplomatic communication.
Asked about reports concerning a second institute employee, he advised relying on Rospotrebnadzor, Russia’s Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing. This is not a medical denial of a second case based on test results.
United States newspaper reports about the communication and the spokesperson’s statement that he was unaware of it concern different things. Without the original note and proof of delivery, the diplomatic sequence cannot be definitively reconstructed.
The World Health Organization, the United Nations health agency, separately requested verification of a report of a second pneumonia case. A verification request is not confirmation of a second plague case.
