The Triumph of Death with the Dance of Death is a fresco celebrating the unstable nature of death that focuses on death and burial as a holy experience. The artwork is divided into two parts: The Triumph (the upper portion) Death, showing a skeleton queen, accompanied by other skeletons holding weapons. The people begging around them. A marble coffin beneath her feet holds the corpse of an emperor and pope, surrounded by poisonous animals- a symbol of swift and merciless ends. The Dance Macabre: The lower portion features the Dance of Death, where there are characters of different social classes join skeletons in a fatal dance.
